Edward David Detro

Edward David Detro, age 75, passed away March 19, 2019, in Ocala, Florida. He was born October 17, 1943 in Detroit, Michigan, and was the son of Edward Earl Detro and Thelma Jane (Crampton) Detro. He grew up in Detroit, spent four years in the US Navy and moved to Florida in 1971.

He is survived by his three children, Marlene (Mike) Leigh, Mark (Alise) Detro, Holly (Tom) Taylor, and granddaughter Haylee Taylor, all of Florida. Also, a sister, Cindy (Carl) Craft-Ison of Michigan, and four nieces, from Michigan.

He was proud to be a veteran of the US Navy (1960-1964), which he joined on the buddy plan with his cousin Jimmy Doan. He loved boats, cars and motorcycles and conversations often included these things. He liked to reminisce about his early life, time spent in the Navy, and often spoke of his grandparents, who were very special to him.

He was preceded in death by his parents - Edward Detro (1996) and Thelma Osiecki (1997); his brother, Harold Crampton (2001); and a sister Kim Russo-Mackie (2013).

No funeral services will be held as it was Eddie’s wish to be buried at sea through the US Navy, Port of Jacksonville, Florida.
