Ruth Conlan, 95, was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was born Ruth Elizabeth Taylor in Anna, Illinois on August 28, 1924, the youngest of five children born to Joseph and Gertrude Taylor.

She was raised in Brentwood, New Hampshire and graduated from the Sanborn Seminary (High School) in Kingston, NH in 1941. Following graduation from the New Hampshire School of Accounting and Finance in Manchester, NH in 1942 she moved to the Panama Canal Zone to be with her three sisters and to work as a secretary.

She met her husband René Herbert Conlan on the Canal Zone and they were married at Albrook Air Field in Balboa, C.Z. in March 1948. After living in Houston, TX for two years they moved to Pomona, California in 1950 and then Ontario, CA in 1952. Ruth worked at Pomona Valley Hospital for 11 years. A move to Hesperia, CA in 1969 found Ruth working as a librarian at St. Mary’s Catholic School for eight years and as the organist for Holy Family Catholic Church for over 15 years. Ruth moved with her husband to Ocala, Florida in 2001. They were happily married for 58 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband René, her brother Neville Taylor and her sisters Irene Kromer, Lucille Rock and Juanita McConaughey.

She is survived by her daughter Kathleen Marie Conlan, son René Taylor Conlan, granddaughter Katherine Elizabeth Conlan and many nieces and nephews.

A Memorial service will be held 12 Noon, Friday, January 10, 2020, in the Good Shepherd Mausoleum Chapel. She will be laid to rest along side her loving husband at Good Shepherd Memorial Gardens immediately following her celebration of life.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to Marion County Hospice or to the American Heart Association.
